Wipro to hire 12,000 people from Indian campuses in next fiscal


Global software major Wipro will reportedly hire about 12,000 from Indian campuses in the upcoming fiscal year. 

 

As per Chief Human Resources officer Saurabh Govil, the company's campus recutriment in 2019-20 has crossed double the number hired in 2018-19, though utilisation has plummeted, with furloughs being one of the reason among others.

 

The IT Gaint added 1,891 employees in Q3 and 11,331 employees in the nine months of fiscal 2019-20. The company's voluntary attrition has climbed down to 15.7 per cent.

 

Meanhwile, following aggressive recruitment of locals in the United States, the employee base has hit 70 per cent.

 

Wipro clinched five major deals in IT Services in the third quarter, inclduing a multi-year managed IT services contract from an airport in the Middle East, a deal from a European manufacturer of hi-tech components for the automotive industry and a multi-year cyber governance, cloud and infrastructure services transformation deal from Japanese medical technology company Olympus.

 

Other deals wins are a multi-year managed services contract from a UK-headquartered construction company and an agreement with a multinational food and drink processing firm.
